With the coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading like wildfire across the nation, it’s important for pole barn owners to take a few precautionary actions. Governments all over the world are advising that people should keep their distance from one another. In some areas, people are even being ordered to stay indoors at all times. Even under government-ordered quarantine, there are certain measures you should take to ensure that you are staying as healthy as possible.

Clean Your Pole Barn Thoroughly

First, you want to sanitize your pole barn. Use a pressure washer to do this. Be thorough. If you’ve been ordered to remain at home, then you have no excuse but to be thorough. Once you wash the exterior well, turn your attention to the interior: wipe down doors, walls, and floors (if you have a floor).

Create Space Between Livestock

If you have a lot of cattle, this may be easier said than done; however, since you’ll be home to supervise them, consider letting your livestock out for some fresh air. Creating distance is key here: doing so may prevent germs from spreading in your pole barn.

Limit the Amount of People Who Go In Your Pole Barn

Even in this age of social distancing, it’s natural to invite close friends over. If you do this, keep a respectable distance from each other. If your pole barn is on the small side, then try to avoid having people hang out in there. Right now, keeping your pole barn clean and free of germs should be your top priority.

To all our fellow pole barn owners and enthusiasts: stay healthy and safe!
